Post Harsh electronic smell
Has anyone else the same problem of optimus giving off strong electronic smell?

It almost smells like ozone or something inside is burning.. :-(

Do oled give off smell?

I don't know if a strange smell could be cause for return on warranty... the more I type more it smells, I wonder if the key is making shorts and
the ozone smell..

Have you maybe got the keys on full brightness as this might cause excess heat and of course smell!

With lowered brightness smell is less.... oled , why not use lcd?
I know it is new tech and interesting....

I don't know the actual reasons, but my guess is:

- OLED does not require a back-light, they generate their own lighting. LCD requires some external source of light.

- As a consequence of the first point, OLED should consume less power and can be smaller and/or thinner.

- Usually they have a better contrast and warmer colors.

- Depending on the way they are produced, they can cost less than LCD (you can practically print them).

- The biggest negative is probably their lifetime, at least for now. In case of the OLED shipped with the Optimus Maximus I would add their production quality (could be better). They are very different one from the other. Some are good, some not, some are darker, some are brighter, some have some discoloration, some are almost perfect.
