Post What Actually Works?
I now have the Keyboard, and I must say it's great.

I have the latest software 0.0.0.6
What actually works?

I couldn't figure out how to replace Shakespear with a clock.
Ditto for Gmail
There's no photoshop layer set
I really couldn't figure out ANYTHING. I never knew I was THIS stupid.
Now there go my plans to apply to NASA!

and

Is Lebedev gonna provide anything like a comprehensive manual... online?

Hi,

It all works so so at present.

Have you upgraded the firmware on the keyboard, thats the most important.

It sounds like you just have the layout that is included on the SD card loaded.

In reality (as opposed to how i / we assumed it would work) the layouts are NOT stored on the SD card.

How to tell if you have the latest firmware, with the keyboard plugged in, in my computer do you have a drive called vOptimus?? that is read / writable???
If so, great, if not then upgrade the firmware first.

There is no manual!

If you want a Photoshop layer, I will post it somewhere here...

OK, No ill will intended here, but, WHAT???

Why does everyone here seem to think that everyone on this board
or with the OM KB is a programmer. Art has sent along NO tutorials,
and EVERYONE here talks in CRYPTOLOGY.
I know what is a tiff file is. Where would you assign a tiff file to.
What would be the STEPS????????????
I used Photoshop to open a "Paint" session in the configurator
I saved the few keys I placed BMP's to a PSD , and I have NO idea
what to do with it after that. It sure is a pretty Layout in Photoshop.

Sheesh!
My Driver crashes!
They layers are cryptic
The configurator is a POS!
I don't mind being a BETA tester as along as I'm compensated in some form or another.

Hell, I settle for a Step by Step TUTORIAL.

YES!!! Slower than molasses running uphill on a Minnesota morning.

If you are on a PC, I have still yet to figure out how to import a TIFF layer.
You should copy the SD card contents to a folder and use that to target icons.
I did this with winword, but couldn't get the program to launch.

I'm a little confused.

I got this last night from Russia:

<<<Instead you can edit the whole layer in graphical editor. As about actions, after you define a key on a layer, there are 4 action plug-ins available now:
key press (multimedia buttons), any string, execute URL o application plug-in and a gmail action.

P.S. So customizing is simple: you have to define a button on a user layer, then select an action, then what should be displayed (yes, you can enter a path to a picture file too).>>>

That's the best I can give you now!

I REALLY DO LIKE THE IBM STYLE CLACKY KEYS!!!!

----------------------UPDATE-----------------------------UPDATE-----------------------------UPDATE------------------------

I got a new e-Mail at 2:20 PM from my Russian Friend at STUDIO.

Here are the contents of my questions and HIS answers:

Dear Rob,

We can play a comedy as well. :)

Thanks.

OK, in fact we'll distribute it ourself as normal layer in future.

OK.

When you press "paint" The PC version creates an image file and watches for it to change. So you should save right in this file (copy/paste from your .psd).

Note: there is a bug with the watch method in the current PC release. It may be required to use the following package or wait for the new version (this weekend)

WBR, MoKo

NOTES: When you press PAINT in the PC Configurator Version. In Win XP, the dialogue box comes up asking what program do you want
to open. In my case I chose photoshop. Is this wrong?
Personally, there should be a sub-program that the studio designs launching a blank keyboard on the right, and a window with an icon library on the
left. At this point you'd drag and drop the icon you want to the key. Save the layout, and then go back to the main program to program the
layout that you just designed.
