Post OMax not working on Vista
Hello All! I just received an OMax Keyboard today and have not been able to get it to work all day. It works fine as just a keyboard but when I run the config app, sometime it will just say not connected or other times it will start to load the config on the keyboard and gets done with about 10 keys then stops leaving the rest of the keyboard blank. I’m running Win Vista 32 bit. I tried on other vista computers and the same thing happened. I then tried to run on a win 2K3 server box but the application would never connect to the board. I did the upgrade to .67b firmware but that didn’t help. Final I pulled and old laptop out running win XP SP 2 and it works on there like a champ and very impressive I must say! At this point I feel its something with vista. I started digging around and I noticed when the board loads, it creates a drive for the card on the XP computer. I can open the drive and browse the files. When I looked at the vista computer The drive pops up but its empty. Its doing this on 2 different vista computers. And it dose this with or without the config application running. I’ve patched and re-patched both vista computers with every update that I can think of but nothing helps. I've checked device manager and it matchs with the pic on the site http://optimus.artlebedev.com/maximus/support/device-manager-maximus.png

Thanks in advance for any ideas!

Hello all (again)! I got it working! :D Just when i was about to give up for the night, i figured lets give it one more shot. I looked at all my services running one by one to see if anything would pop out as to why the drive would not load. Then i came across NAVCE 11 (Norton AV Corp)... Hum  .. so i shut it down; reloaded the kb and i came up perfectly! So i created some excption rules and i'm good to go. It was the same on the other Vista PC and Win 2K3 Server as well.

Where did you get it from? How has it been working on the Vista computer? What version of software and firmware did it come loaded with? Is it stable? Sorry for all the Q's, I am thinking about getting one too.

Cheers
Dave

I got the board from ThinkGeek.com. So far its been great (once i got around my issues). Little issues here and the. The board and pc are loaded with the latest versions (PC Software 0.0.0.14 & Firmware .67b) The only issue that i've been seeing alot is when the keyboard comes out of sleep mobe sometimes some keys will not load correctly. I don't know if this is and issues everyone is having or just me. A simple restart of the config app fixes it. I haven't tried it on vista 64 bit yet but i plan on tring it in a few days.

Does the keyboard go to sleep when vista does or does it have its own sleep to act as a screensaver of the OLED's? Is it just the image on the keys that does not load correctly? Does it do this on XP laptop when it goes to sleep?
