Post Configurator Suggestions
I thought it might be helpful to start a thread to collect together everyone's suggestions to AL as to how Configurator can be improved in the next few versions.

I'll set the ball rolling:

(1) Please include an 'undo' function - or at least a dialogue box to check whether the user really really wants to delete the layer that they've just spent several hours working on...
(2) Allow the user to import icon images by dragging an existing icon from the desktop into the image box (like you can with regular picture files)

Anyone else want to add?

A few BROWSE buttons would be nice! :) One on the Video plugin to select a file stored on your hardrive, and one for the select application option, specifically to search for .exe files!

Also a complete backup option to save your complete keyb setup & hard work to a restorable file.

I've been having issues with re ordering the layer list. (Drag and drop) Can you spread out the layers a little more, or make a more efficient re-order method.

what's wrong with drag-n-drop?
its logic is:
- target can only be a user root or group for layers and user root for groups (so dropper hilights only those ones)
- insert position is the item where you dropped your layer, or its parent if you drop a group
- dropping layer to the group inserts it to the end of the group

that's a rocket science, but that's the way it is :)

I have not removed the original 'Important item' layer from my configurator, which by default has no group. When I tried to move it to the top of the list, above some of the groups I had set, it always dropped into the top group. I struggled to move it out again, and then had to move the groups down the list instead, as you have suggested, this was easier. It was a little difficult to line up the black sorting line in between the groups.

Maybe it would be suggest-able to only allow layers to be created and stored in groups.

er, what's the suggestion - only layer are allowed to create in groups (so sub-groups are impossible to create).. ?

No - Layers not in a group.

Yes - Layers in group only.

Edit: (A user must make a group first. Then a user can make a layer for the group. A user can move a layer from group to group. No layers outside of groups)

You will be surprised, but those struck-out layers are in the group. Not visually, but physically. And this group is "layers" (also known as "user root").
Such a layout came from MAC version.

Ok! I get it.

My suggestion is really only cosmetic. I will continue to make my own groups for ease of use.
Thanks

New suggestion. I have noticed that it is not possible to change the key properties of the numbers pad.

I have changed the fonts etc. on the main, alt-ctrl, shift, caps, and shift-caps, layers, but not on the number pad. Still the standard big Tahoma fonts.
